Course Description:

This webinar provides an introduction to Assessment and Treatment of babies using a current NDT approach.  Typical and atypical development from a sensory motor perspective, baby assessment and how to therapeutically handle babies is covered and practiced. This is a great course for the pediatric therapist who treats babies and wants to apply handling techniques to little bodies.  You must have a 18-24 inch jointed doll for use during lab practice sessions.  Presentation will be via lecture/PPP, video clips and facilitation practice sessions.

Course Objectives

The participant will:

1)              Have a basic understanding of the history of baby treatment and why baby treatment is different from treatment of older children.

2)              Understand how to assess a baby’s sensory motor impairments.

3)              Understand how to write functional goals for baby treatment.

4)              Apply treatment techniques to encourage movement and sensory motor development

5)              Understand basic typical and atypical development for the first three months of life.

6)              Develop a treatment plan for a baby with CNS impairments during the first three months of life.

7)              Practice handling with video demos and practice sessions.
